THE RAVENS10 MINI-BIO

Yep, this is our new band an just to fill you in on our long standing friendships/musicianships here is a bit of bio on DixiE, Liebe & me...

I first ever met DixiE when I was just 17 years old at a local music project & then again at his home through friends where we became pals & started jamming on a regular basis.
Very soon we became great mates & start drinking together at our local RoCk PuB which was then the Duke back in my home town.
There we would listen to loads of cool (& not so cool!) bands (& DixiE taught me all about the art of beer guzzling & Pulling! )
We had many great times & wrote loads of fun music from which came "Dark Skies" presently listed on my site.
Eventually Dixie moved further North to Cumbria & we stayed in touch but saw considerably less of each other.

Around this time I just started RoCk Clubbin in Birmingham & met Liebe through a bunch of friends - I can remember being blown away by how cool she was!
Yes when I met Liebe she was a rather stunning model with three cars
a Chevy Camera, a Ford Mustang & a rather Sooped-up Capri (pretty damn impressive! Ow an did I mention she could sing!!!).
Me & Li hit it off from the start & formed our own band called "Lux" (yes! I know the same name as the soap bars!) & mostly re-working songs Li had written in her previous band "Switchblade".
(one of our songs will go up on my site over the next week or so called "Cyanide" - so stay tuned!)
The way we worked was Li came-up with the songs & chords & I would write all the music - we pulled together the first line-up for our band consisting of Li on vocals, Me on rhythm & lead, Maria (my sister) on rhythm & lead, some guy called Luke on bass
(Li thought he looked good - but I honestly have to say he was not a musician & couldn't play if his life depended on it! ) & finally Li's mate Ian on drums...
(this guy was pretty cool & he could play!).
We struggled in this line-up as no one had the balls to tell Luke he had to go & whats worse we had a three-track-demo booked for recording at Sam Sharp Studio's & no one else had a bass guitar so we needed Luke at least til the demo was recorded (which was a nightmare to say the least!).
On that day Maria couldn't make it so I had to play my parts, Maria's parts & one of Luke's parts (as he couldn't).
On the next song Li did Luke's bass part & the final song Luke insisteded he played! (unfortunately that was the only song that came out tragic due to the fact he just couldn't play it! never mind!).
Shortly after this (I can't remember who did it!) we managed to convince Luke our band wasn't really for him & we parted on good terms! Sadly at that time Ian had to leave the band (I can't remember why but he did have a good legitimate reason!).
Also at that time things had started to really pick-up (despite losing two members!) as Li had organised a gig in which "WARNER BROTHERS" would be auditioning us! Also I had fallen lucky with my good mate's 'Herbi & Avtar' who were extremely talented session musicians who dropped everything to work with us for the "WARNER BROTHERS" audition!
This was a very cool time as I remember giving our demo tape to 'Herbi & Av' who listened to it once without ever playing along to it & said "Let's do it!" - next thing I remember we were in the studio, Av counted in on the drums & we started playing "Cyanide" - it sounded so Powerful & Impressive that I can remember Me, Li & Maria couldn't take the smiles off our faces - Herbie (who was usually a guitarist & a mighty fine one at that!) was playing bass like you'd never believe & Av's drumming was just so immensely AwEsOmE! Yep we finally rocked!
Now on another topic but also at that time I can remember being in touch with DixiE who's love life (like most peoples!) was in real turmoil! Li was also havin some nightmares with hers too & I remember the night before we recorded the three track demo having a 'heart to heart' with Li about how the men in her life at that time sucked!
I also remember her describing in great detail her perfect man! & suddenly it hit me!!! Yes like a light bulb above my head!
Her description of 'The perfect man' was 'DixiE'! so I told her all about him & she was sold on him there & then!
It was still sometime before I could actually manage to pull it off - but finally I managed to arrange a nite out with all my mates where both 'DixiE' & 'Li' would finally meet - the first nite was at Nottingham RoCk CiTy & I remember introducing them but things were awkward as DixiE's misses (at that time!) was there & making his life a misery preventing him properly meeting Liebe.
However the next nite was planned for XL's night club in Birmingham & by this time DixiE could take no more! & finally ended his nightmare relationship once & for all!

So this time things would be different (& they were right from the start! ).
DixiE was a bit down on the drive to the club but that was about to change! there were four people in my car & two in Li's (Li & my mate Trigger) suddenly smoke started bellowing out of Li's car so she had to pull over & stop!
Determined not to let this ruin the nite we re-arranged the seating in my car (illegally!) with my mate Trigger sandwiched in the back & Li sat snugly between DixiE's legs in the front - strangely enough DixiE seem to cheer-up almost straight away!
(I really can't think why!!! ).
We got to the club & had the most fantastic night! & on the way home we dropped Li off with her car to arrange recovery & oddly enough DixiE was also dropped off with her!
Now the next day Me, Li & the band had a gig (not the WARNER one!) - it was nearly time for us to go on & there was absolutely no sign of DixiE or Li so me & my mate Trigger decided to investigate!
We banged away on Li's front door for ages with no reply & finally decided to call it a day - but just as we started to walk away the door opened & there was a rather scantly clad Li!
She was so happy & excited talking away at the top of her voice...
But in her haste to open the door she forgot to close her robe! so me & my mate Trigger were speechless plus trying not to look (unfortunately were men so we had to look!!!).
(there isn't an icon for topless!)
Finally (after a dozen failed attempts - not that we minded!) we managed to get her attention to say "Li! you have no bra on! your topless!!!"
At that moment as Li 'Ran like the wind' DixiE casually passes by (doing up his flies!) & says "Alright Ladz... howz it goin!" (should have been 'howz it hangin!)...
So we all made haste, got to our gig & played our set (the gig went fine but there was no sound engineer & there were many technical hicks including my Carlsbro guitar amp exploding before the end of the set! - but a good time was had by all!).

Unfortunately for the band everyone went their separate ways after that day & we never did get our shot with "WARNER BROTHERS"!
But hey within a month or so later DixiE & Li were married & that was over 11 years ago!
We have been in touch a fair bit since although mostly on the phone & the last time we all met was on my 'Honeymoon' 5 years ago!
We speak all the time now (especially since Ravens10 has been formed!) & will all be getting together a day or so before 'Download' at 'Donnington' to take some band photo's & catch-up!
It has to be said that DMusic has brought us back together not just reinforcing our friendships but also re-forging our musicianships! (Thank You DMusic!!!)
